Valentine's Day

Everyone at the table was laughing. Bobby, Terry, and Larry were singing "Friends in Low Places" during the Karaoke Night at the Seven-EleveN Bar. The younger brothers and sisters were home from college and all the siblings decided a night out was called for.

"Brian," Trixie insisted, her face red from the heat and the fun, "you have to sing. Everybody else has."

Honey grinned. "I think you pulling Diana and I up was not us singing voluntarily. I was perfectly fine sitting here watching everyone."

Diana nodded her agreement. "Mart is enough of a showman for our family. Though he and Dan singing "I'm Too Sexy" just may have been over the top."

Trixie looked up at the stage. It was dark, the last set starting in just a few minutes. Brian was the DD for the night. He had offered even though he had been the last time they went out also. He was snickering about something her husband had said to him. Brian had been tense the last few weeks and Trixie had hoped that tonight would relax him. She started when Honey pushed her chair back with a screech of the legs on the cement floor.

"I'm heading to the restroom." Honey put her drink down, reaching down and putting her purse on her chair. "Be right back."

"You want one of us to come with," Diana asked, looking up from her secure spot in Mart's arms. Trixie vaguely noted that Honey didn't even slow down as she replied negatively, moving quickly towards the back corner of the bar. As Honey left, Brian stood up and noted everyone's drinks.  "One last round. I'm buying so I'll go get it."  Jim started to get up, but Brian put his hand on his shoulder. "No problem, Jim. Go ahead and snuggle with your wife. I got it." And Brian headed the opposite direction from where Honey had gone.

Jim obligingly turned to his wife and pulled her into his lap.  She gave him a quick kiss on the lips and then wrinkled her forehead. "That was weird."

Jim looked at her feigning hurt. "My kiss?"

She giggled. "No. Neither of them wanted someone with them." Trixie looked up at her husband. "Did I miss something? Did someone say something about Valentine's Day? We were trying so hard to NOT bring that up."

Jim shook his head. At that point, the lights on the stage came up and the emcee stood up. "Okay, #15 is next. The song is 'Reunited'."

The lights darkened a bit and a man brought a chair to the stage and sat, back to the audience. The music started. As he sang, he stood up and turned to the audience. "Oh my gosh!" Diana screamed. "It's Brian!"

Then, to the group's surprise, from the side of the stage, out walked a woman with light brown hair, her alto voice singing in response to Brian's baritone. Di and Trixie had tears in their eyes while the guys just applauded.
